Scope and content
Letters written to Trawick family members by Annie Horne, marriage certificate, passports, and photograph album of "Temple Court," their house in Yokohama. Includes a printout of a typescript transcript of a 1903-1904 diary of John H. Knapp, which mentions the Hornes, and a "History of Frederick Whitney Horne in Japan," compiled by Marc Peter Keane, 2013.

Biographical / Historical
Annie Byrd Trawick was born in 1864 in Hawkinsville, Georgia. In 1885, she married Frederick Whitney Horne, b. 1856 in London, Ontario. They lived in Chicago and, in 1895, they went to Japan, where F. W. Horne served as a machinery merchant. In 1907, he initiated the Japan-U.S. Recorders Manufacturing to commercialize records and recorders, and constructed a special-purpose factory in Yokohama. In 1910, North founded the Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd.
