Biographical / Historical
Jonas Platt served as the county clerk for Herkimer County, New York from 1792-1798. He subsequently served as a Congressman from New York, a senator in the New York State Senate, and a justice on the New York State Supreme Court. Arthur Breese was a New York state government official who later became clerk of the Supreme Court of Western New York. Thomas Ruggles Gold, who lived nearby in Whitesboro, Oneida County, later served in the New York State Senate, New York State Assembly, and United States House of Representatives.
