Biographical / Historical
Franklin Williams worked as an engineer for the Attica and Allegany Valley Railroad Company from 1853-1854, but filed suit against the railroad in July 1854, alleging that he had not been paid in full for his services. The court found in favor of Williams, but after that Williams allegedly still was not paid in full. He then sued John C. Devereux, one of the directors and stockholders of the railroad.
