Manuscript copy of the Articles of Association for the Sacket's Harbor and Saratoga Railroad Company, including a list of subscribers who bought shares of stock in the company. Appended to the document is a statement from the Secretary of State for New York State, dated June 19, 1862, certifying that the manuscript is an accurate and complete transcript from the original.

Biographical / Historical
Sacket's Harbor and Saratoga Railroad Company was chartered in 1848 and incorporated in 1852, and its proposed rail route was surveyed in 1853. It was never finished, although eventually about 60 miles of track were laid. The railroad was reorganized as the Lake Ontario & Hudson River Railroad in 1857, and subsequently was succeeded by the Delaware and Hudson Railway Company as the owner of the route. Passenger service along the route ended in 1957, and freight service ended in 2003.
