Biographical / Historical

William H. Bridger & Company was hired to build a barge for Durant, Lathrop & Company of Albany, New York. While still unfinished, the barge was included in company property assigned to Garret Andrews, William C. More, and John Van Buren in settlement of the debts of the builders, whose firm was now called Bridger & Bishop. Subsequently a dispute arose as to whose property the barge was and what its value was. The defendants in the case were Charles W. Durant, Septimus Lathrop, and Thomas C. Durant.
