Biographical / Historical
The land for Letchworth Park was given to the State of New York by William Pryor Letchworth at the end of 1906. In January 1907, a bill was introduced in the New York state legislature to amend the charter of the Genesee River Company in a way that would have allowed the company to build a dam robbing the park of its waterfalls.
