Biographical / Historical

Hollis Dann served as professor of music at Cornell from 1904 to 1920 and as the first official director of the Cornell Glee Club from 1889 to 1921. He became professor of music and head of the Department of Music Education at New York University in 1925, serving until 1936. He also served as Chairman of the Music Council of the State of New York from 1910-1921 and as president of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC) from 1919-1920. He edited and compiled numerous anthologies and the 8 volume Hollis Dann Music Course.
