Scope and content

Scholarly notes to two of her books: The Entourage of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Sexuality, State, and Civil Society; records concerning her committee activities at Cornell, including notes and articles on the Divestment movement at Cornell; notes, agendas, drafts, background information and statistics from the committee chaired by Hull on the revision of the curriculum of the College of Arts and Sciences (i.e. distribution requirements, including foreign language requirement); and early papers and notes from school, college, and graduate school.

Committee records that relate to divestment and curricular reform are open for research. Scholarly notes and information on secondary sources relating to Hull's works The Entourage of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Sexuality, State, and Civil Society are unrestricted. Items relating to the writing and revising process of these titles and all other materials in the collection remain restricted until 2040, except upon written permission from Isabel V. Hull, or her executor or designee.

Donor retains all literary property rights during her lifetime. After her death, literary property rights will go to whomever she has designated in her will.

Biographical / Historical

John Stambaugh Professor of History, Cornell University. Isabel Hull graduated from the University of Michigan and received M. Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow, and an Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung Research Fellow. Her research area is Germany, 1700-1945, especially sociopolitical, military, legal, and administrative history, and political theory.
