"Rumi" was a 13th century Islamic philosopher and mystic who lived what is modern-day Turkey. His doctrine advocated unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity, and awareness through love. The purpose of the society was to promote dialogue and understanding between different religions and Islam, to bring together people interested in Turkish Islamic culture and spirituality, to organize educational events for the Cornell community on Islamic spirituality in general and its effects on Turkish culture in particular through the sponsorship, organization, and presentation of various events.
