Tompkins County Court cases : against Stephen Ostrander and Bert Casterline, and against Sadie M. Smith
Scope and content
Stenographer's minutes from two court cases: The People vs. Stephen Ostrander and Bert Casterline, which came before the grand jury in the March term of 1895, and The People vs. Sadie M. Smith, which came before the grand jury in the April term of 1902. In the first case, Ostrander and Casterline were charged with third-degree burglary and larceny for allegedly breaking into a saloon on West State Street in Ithaca, New York and stealing beer. They were indicted. In the second case, Smith was charged with keeping a disorderly house at the Park Hotel in Ithaca. She was also indicted. In both cases, the minutes were taken by stenographer Truman Noble.
