Scope and content

Bound black sketchbook once owned by Quik. The covers and all pages were drawn on, signed, and inscribed by leading New York subway graffiti artists of the 1970s and 1980s, at the point when they were making the transition to the New York and European gallery scene. Artists represented include Blade, Tracy 168, Dondi, Futura 2000, Daze, Crash, Seen, Iz the Wiz (Mike Martin), Shy 147, Ramm-ell-zee, Haze, Min, Zephyr, Dr. Revolt, Trike, Boe, Kid 56, LA 2, Sach, Rich, Chi 163, Aeron, Duro, and Quik. Also includes full page drawings by Milan Kunc and a full page inscription by the Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten (John Lydon). The sketchbook was exhibited at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris, in the 2009 exhibition Born in the Streets Graffiti.
