Scope and content

Ledgers containing financial accounts for the canal insurance firm Howard and Thurston, of Albion, New York (1860-1866); accounts for a general store, owned at one time by William Murray of Greece, New York (1833-1834, 1862-1869, and 1885); and accounts for a general store owned (?) by Pierpont Dyer in Canandaigua, New York (1818-1859). Also, a document signed by Milton W. Hopkins, auctioneer for Orleans County, dated January 21, 1828, giving an account of state taxes paid on goods auctioned in November 1827; a printed article from an unidentified 20th-century periodical, on the history of Orleans County; and assorted 19th-century receipts, advertisements, and notes. Several of the financial documents concern businesses in Spencerport (Monroe County, New York)as well.
