Scope and content

Cornell student scrapbook of Joseph P. Ripley includes photographs, clippings, programs and other memorabilia. Scrapbook of Florence Albro includes dance cards, clippings, programs and photographs. Also photographs of a Junior Week House party at Beta Theta Pi, the old Armory decorated for a prom, and the interior of the fraternity house.

Biographical / Historical

Joseph P. Ripley graduated from Cornell in 1912. As a student, he was a member of Aleph Samach (Junior honor society), Sphinx Head (Senior honor society), Gemel Kharm (a social club), and Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He won the Sibley Prize in mechanical engineering, was elected to Tau Beta Pi (Engineering honor society) and was the manager of the Crew team. Additionally, he was on the Freshman Banquet Committee, the Sophomore Cotillion, the Junior Prom, the Spring Play, the Crew Celebration, and the Student Conference Committee. He married Florence G. Albro. He served as a member of Cornell's Board of Trustees.
