Photographs of China mounted on paperboard album pages, most identified with handwritten captions in English. Includes 52 albumen prints, six with hand-coloring; four stereoviews; one watercolor of the exterior of an unidentified Chinese structure; one print of the Customs House in Shanghai, and a small pencil sketch of a temple bell. Subjects include interior and exterior views of buildings such as temples, pagodas, a Roman Catholic cathedral, the Imperial Palace, and the Great Wall. Also includes views of a woman weaving, a merchant's portrait, criminals, and an execution. Locations include Peking, Pi Yun Sze (Biyun si), Nan Kou (Nankou) Pass, Ku Pei Kuo area, Tientsin (Tianjin), near Ningpo (Ningbo), Chinkiang (Jinjiang), and the Chusan (Zhoushan) Archipelago - Island of Putuo.
