Scope and content

Papers include a range of horticulture experiments, Geneva Experiment Station research, clippings, and information. Items from subject and clipping files about vegetables and fruits, plant breeding, vegetable judging score sheets and grading information. A 1955 logbook with grape growth information from Madison Vineyards NY. Several glass slide photographs of family photos and of grape seedlings. Correspondence with Philip Wagner regarding French hybrid grapes. Also photos of some plants in Fredonia and of a New York Agricultural Experiment Station Greenhouse. Glass slides located in box 2. Reproduced photos from glass slides are also included.

Biographical / Historical

Wellington was a professor emeritus of pomology at the NYS Agricultural Experiment Station where he started work in 1906. His research focused on grape breeding, but also included other fruits and vegetables. He developed and named over 70 varieties.
