Scope and content

Government documents presented to the British Parliament, chiefly concerning Allied shipping casualties (including those lost in the sinking of the Lusitania), the treatment of British prisoners of war by the Germans, and the rupture of relations with Turkey. Also, a brochure issued by the Mounted Service School at Fort Riley, Kansas, in 1916, detailing its training methods for cavalrymen and their horses. Maps showing battle lines for various battles, and depicting the European populations under the control of the German alliance; a volume of German proclamations in Belgium and France; and issues of the Continental Times, "a journal for Americans in Europe." Also, 1918 and 1919 issues of the Washington Post and the Sunday Star (Washington, D.C.), with one issue of the New York Times and one of the New York Times Book Review, all featuring articles on the war and its ending. New York Tribune article on war time fashion for women from October 6, 1918.

Also, toilet paper stamped with a caricature of Kaiser Wilhelm II and a scatalogical caption in French, with envelope bearing the brand name Pochette des Alliés and the product name Papier A.Q. (also stamped on the Kaiser's helmet in the caricature). Handwritten on the back of the envelope is a note to "Mon cher Heury."

Also included is a certificate attesting to the honorable service of Rappleye Snyder in the American "section sanitaire" 61 in the French army, from May 1916-October 1917.
