The Cornell Rankhandi Project was a sociological and anthropological study of the North India village of Rankhandi (Khalapur) undertaken in conjunction with Lucknow University of India, with the additional participation of the Ford Foundation. The project used the control Muslim village of Jhabiran in its study, and embraced the disciplines of anthropology, religion, sociology, political science, economics, linguistics, child psychology, history, and social psychology. Michael Mahar has returned to Rankhandi over many years, and has filmed the village.
