Biographical / Historical

Mathematician. B. S. 1959, University of Chicago; M. S. 1960 and Ph. D. 1965, University of Michigan. Professor Cohen was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, N. J. 1965-1967, and held the position of lecturer from 1967-1968. He began work at Cornell in 1968, taught and conducted research for many years and currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Mathematics in the field of geometric topology and combinatorial group theory.
