Scope and content
A digital CD library of Cornell University Library primary sources in American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction. The collection is particularly strong in the subject areas of education, psychology, American history, sociology, religion, and science and technology. The collection currently contains approximately 8,500 books and 50,000 journal articles. The collection continues to grow through a collaboration with the Library of Congress to deliver the journal Garden and Forest and continued digitization; Making of America will total 9,000 monographs, with approximately three million pages online by early 2001. At Cornell University, 109 monographs (267 volumes) and 22 journals (955 volumes) with imprints primarily between 1840 - 1900 were selected, scanned, and made available through the present system.
