Scope and content

New York State and U.S. legal documents reflecting Ezra Cornell's donation of land for the building of an agricultural college (the future Cornell University) under the Agricultural College Act of July 2, 1862. Included are a U.S. General Land Office document reflecting Mr. Cornell's donation of 990,000 acres of land, dated 1863; a scrip for that land, dated Aug. 4, 1866; a location certificate, dated Aug. 10, 1866; and a Land Office certificate for receipt of scrip from Mr. Cornell, also dated Aug. 10, 1866.
