Biographical / Historical
Psychologist. William S. Foster graduated from Cornell in 1908, and received his Ph.D. in 1913. He served as an instructor in the Dept. of Psychology from 1908 until 1916 when he became assistant professor of educational psychology in the Dept. of Education. During World War I he worked as chief psychological examiner, instructor, and inspector at various camps and in the Surgeon General's office. In 1918 he married Josephine Curtis (Ph.D. '15), and in 1919 he went to the University of Minnesota as associate professor of psychology. In 1922 he was appointed to a full professorship. Professor Foster died in 1926.
