Photographs of Cornell University scenes including Sibley College of Engineering, the Library, the old Armory, and Fall Creek gorge, 1898. Also an album of photographs with scenes from telephone exchanges in Georgia, images of African-Americans in the South, scenes of Charleston, S.C. and Savannah, GA., 1900-1901; scenes of New York City, 1903; St. Augustine, FL; the Grand Canyon, 1903; a fire in Baltimore, 1904; the Thousand Islands, 1903; Niagara Falls, 1902; Buffalo, N.Y. and the Pan-American Exposition, 19012-1902; Montreal and elsewhere in Canada, 1903; and other places. Includes material from the National War Labor Board and several ILGWU Grievance Boards. Also includes subject files.

Biographical / Historical

. Cornell University Class of 1898. William Frederick Devendorf graduated from Cornell in 1898 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a concentration in Electrical Engineering. He later held positions as head of telephone exchanges for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co. in Atlanta, Georgia, as a telephone exchange designer for Western Electric Co. in New York City, and as the owner of Wm. F. Devendorf & Co. in Rochester, NY, a steam power plant engineering and contracting company. Mr. Devendorf died in April of 1963 at the age of 88.
