Scope and content

The collection includes correspondence, photographs and drawings from classmates at Cornell. Correspondents include: Binx Howland, Mary Leslie (Mudge), Catherine Grady (Degler), Kenneth L. Washburn, Dr. Tang Zhenxu (Chen-Hsu Tang), and Harry Caplan. Also, "Cornell Classmates, 1935-2004," booklet of photos, sketches, and letters compiled in honor of Edith Piness Abrams; "Cornell Voices and Images, 1935-2004," with letters and photos from classmates, faculty, and friends; "Bird and Beastly Behavior"; and "Losing and Finding: Quotations with Paintings by Rawley Silver. Original drawings of classmates, including Carol Tedesche, Barbara Kosenko, Phyllis Singerman, Willa Percival, Gertrude Cantor, Laura Mattoon, and Evelyn Zimmerman. Also a 2009 award from Teachers College at Columbia.

Biographical / Historical

After receiving a B.A. degree in Fine Arts and Fine Arts Education from Cornell University in 1939, Rawley Silver attended Teachers College, Columbia University. She has written articles relating to education for handicapped children using art for almost three decades.
