Scope and content

Creator

Biographical / Historical

A.J. Loos was born on Staten Island, the son of Prussian immigrants Alexander Loos and Julia Frommann. He entered Cornell in 1873, graduating in 1877. In 1883, he married his classmate, Jenny Bell Beaty of Bennington, Vermont. After graduation, Loos became a reporter for the New York Tribune, but he later established a wholesale firm dealing in oils and naval stores. Cornell University Class of 1877.
