Scope and content

Maryland Prince George's county -- I hereby certify that the bearer here of Ann Butler, a black girl about seventeen years of age five feet three and one half inches high with a small cut or scar on the upper lip and has lost a part of the first joint of the left thumb. That the said Ann Butler is a free girl and was born free in the county aforesaid being the daughter of Ann Butler a free woman of color. In testimony where of I have hereto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of Prince George County Court the third day of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twentysix. --Aquila Beal, County Clerk.
