Cooperative Extension was directed to initiate the program provided that control be transferred to the Office for the Aging when it opened. The Office for the Aging was established in 1975 and in 1976 the Salvation Army contracted for the Title VII program. In 1987"Foodnet" began operating the nutrition program.
