Scope and content

Correspondence, research notes, bookplates, illustrations, sample typographic pages, and other material of a book collector who took a special interest in the forms of the Sibyl used by the Tramezzini as their device (16th century). Included are six bound manuscripts dating from the 17th and 18th centuries: Philosophia peripatetica, by Giacomo Filippo Simonelli (bound in vellum); Trattato astrologico di quanto influiscono le stelle ... per l'anno 1715, by Bartolommeo Albizzini (in paper wrappers); Introdutione [i.e. Introduzione] alla geografia, by Carnevale (bound in vellum, paper size varies); Poesie di vario genere e di metro curiose, an anthology of poems by various authors (bound in light cardboard); Lettere del conte Lorenzo Magalotti sopra le terre odorose d'Europa e d'America, 1695 (bound in vellum, 30 cm.); and Gli arcani delle stelle, by Antonio Carnevale, ca. 1663 (unbound, 29 cm.).
