Correspondence, photographs and photograph albums, school and childhood papers, business correspondence, financial records, thesis material, manuscripts and publications, and other papers and records of an Ithaca, New York family; includes papers of the related Peavy family. Also materials relating to the artist Ross Braught. Includes the annotated typescript by Helen Peavy Washburn titled State Road, an American Adventure about the family's cross country roadtrip in 1938 and their connections to famous art and artists along the way. The typescript has been compiled into a volume published in 2024 by Helen's grandson Kent Washburn, a PDF of this volume is also within the collection.

Biographical / Historical

Kenneth Washburn was a professor of art at Cornell University. The family lived at 112 Judd Falls Road in Forest Home New York. Kenneth Washburn was a member of the Class of 1926, receving a BFA in 1927 and MFA in 1929. Helen Washburn was a member of the Cornell University Class of 1925, receiving an AB and received a Masters degree in 1929.
