Biographical / Historical
Elsie B. Schwartzkopf, the mother of Jessie Cohen, taught at P.S. 63 on the lower East Side of New York City in the early 1900s. Theresa Stonehill, Jessie Cohen's great-grandmother, was born in 1823 in Germany and came to the U.S. as a young woman.
