Biographical / Historical

Valentine Bechler was mustered into the service August 30, 1861 at Trenton, New Jersey to serve three years as a private, Company E, 8th New Jersey Infantry. He was honorably discharged as a private, January 7, 1863 at Convalescent Camp, Virginia, while temporarily assigned to 6th New York Independent Battery, New York Light Artillery.
