Scope and content

Correspondence, memoranda, and reports concerning the subjects and financing of his research, the publication of his scientific papers, professional meetings, and a course in physics for engineers; lecture notes and notebooks with research data; memoranda and lists pertaining to graduate student assistants, distribution of grades, schedules, and the content of courses taught by Professor Tomboulian; notebooks of his students; manuscripts and printers proofs for Electric and Magnetic Fields (1965) and another work, presumably Wave Optics and Atomics (1958); reprints and copies of his articles and technical reports and lists of his scientific publications; notes of Jacob R. Collins and other physics professors; and reprints of the publications of other physicists. Also, his transcript from Robert College, Constantinople (1922); graduate and undergraduate scientific papers; and correspondence, a depostion, certificates, and other papers (1922-1939) pertaining to his immigration and naturalization.

Ph.D., Cornell University, 1935. Professor of Physics, 1935-1964. His primary area of research was in the spectroscopy of extreme ultraviolet and soft X-rays. D. H. Tomboulian died in 1964.
