Biographical / Historical

The Methodist Epsicopal Church of Rogersville was organized sometime before its meeting house was built in 1840 in the township of what is now South Dansville. Two other Methodist charges in North and South Oak Hill combined with it sometime after 1840 to form the Rogersville Charge, an appointment on the area circuit. The Oak Hill charges, and a class at Beachville retained their separate identities while services were performed on alternate Sundays by the pastor of the Rogersville church. The Rogersville charge (after about 1880 the South Dansville Charge) was organized as a part of the Genesee Conference.
