Biographical / Historical
Religious services were conducted regularly in Prattsburg by the Reverend John Niles, first in a barn owned by Jared Pratt, and after 1806 in a log meeting house. A church was officially organized by the Reverend Timothy Field of Canandaigua on June 26, 1804. In 1806-1807 a large number of settlers from Connecticut, mostly Congregationalists, joined the church, necessitating an enlargement of the meeting house in 1808. On November 16, 1807 the Society incorporated as Presbyterian and Congregationalist under the Plan of Union. By 1809 the Church's membership had increased from its original membership of 15 to 61. In 1813 the church was received into the Presbytery of Geneva. When the Geneva Presbytery divided in 1817 the church became part of the Bath Presbytery. Revivals occurred in 1830, 1831, and 1832 and by 1839 the church had 240 members. A parsonage was bult in 1832-1833 and the church was enlarged in 1820 and again in 1845. Other revivals occurred in 1842-43, 1846, 1849, 18501851, 1854, 1858, 1868, 1873 and 1875.
