Letters chiefly to Mrs. Amelia Stoddard May of Newport (Herkimer County), N.Y. and her daughter Eliza, from relatives in Connecticut including Mrs. May's father Ebenezer Stoddard, Sr. comment on the Spring legislative session in Connecticut (1836) and the decline of the Whig Party, expansion of shoe manufacturing in New England, family matters and neighbors in Woodstock, Conn. In addition, one letter from a school friend in Warsaw (Wyoming County), N.Y., discusses the local dance school, harvest work, and the coming of the circus.
