Scope and content

Correspondence, reports, speeches, articles, memoranda, departmental directives, and other papers dealing chiefly with matters of policy and administration in the Forestry Branch of the Indian Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Papers relate to Kinney's conservation work and his services as an attorney for the Lands Division of the Department of Justice, to the management and policies of the Society of American Foresters, to awards made by the American Forest Fire Medal Board, and to the sale of Indian lands and the establishment of reservations in the Pacific Northwest; also, typescripts of Kinney's books, miscellaneous pamphlets, maps of Indian reservations, photos of soil ersosion in the West, and three microfiche cards of an oral history interview with Kinney.
