Collection includes personal and family letters, including letters from his parents in Bangkok and from Prince Sonapandit of the Private Secretary's Office, Grand Palace, Bangkok; documents relating to a Siamese railway concession, including printed prospectus and concession, 1886, by Alfred John Loftus and others and manuscript petitions by Phya Maha Yotha and Pra Nides Choldi, 1896; professional correspondence about the coronation in Bangkok, 1911, and mention of events leading to beginning of World War I; FOREIGN POLICY REPORTS issue on Siam, 1931; and miscellaneous clippings.

Biographical / Historical

Edward H. Loftus served in the Siamese Legation in England and was Secretary of the Siamese Legation in the United States. His father (?) was Alfred John Loftus, who served as Commissioner for the King of Siam in 1883.
