Letters written from Mamaroneck, Westchester County, N.Y. and Harlaem, N.Y., primarily from George and Mary Baxter to William and Priscilla Griffin (Griffen), about business and family matters. Other correspondents include William Randel and Daniel Hadden. Also, bond for loan of one hundred pounds, 1794.

Biographical / Historical

The Griffins raised sheep in Enfield, N.Y. and sent fleeces to the Baxters' woolen mill in Mamaroneck. Mary Baxter was the daughter of William Griffin II and Priscilla Hadden Griffin. William Randel, who lived in Harlaem, N.Y., was probably the husband of Priscilla's sister Susan Hadden.
