Student scrapbook, 1910-1914; student diaries, 1912-1913 (2 volumes) describing his academic and social life and some notes about current events, including the Titanic, national elections, and the Lusitania ; diary kept by Babcock from May 31 to Christmas 1918 while he served with the American Expeditionary Force in France, includes note of meeting with U.S. ace Eddie Rickenbacker, description of carnage in and around Verdun; photographs of Howard Babcock, the Cornell Law School Class of 1914, and the Cornell Glee Club; Bachelor of Law diploma; certificate for admission to the New York State Bar; certificate for attendance at the Military Instruction Camp at Plattsburgh; Niagara Falls, N.Y. World War I Roll of Honor certificate. Cornell mugs, including one with a seal and '03; College of Law Smoker, 1910; Cornell Sophomore Stunt at the Dutch, 1910 and Cornell Smoker, St. Louis, 1913. Sigma Alpha Epsilon gold-filled watch and chain. Also a few photographs with groups of students, including one of the Cornell University Law School Class of 1914 in front of Boardman Hall. Collection includes a pocket watch with Howard Orville Babcock's initials engraved (MU-1249- Box 2).

Biographical / Historical
Howard O. Babcock graduated from Niagara Falls High School and Cornell University Law School. After working as an attorney for two years, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1917. Following the war, he returned to New York to resume work as a lawyer. In the 1920s he became active in the brokerage business. He lived in Buffalo and was active in civic life. He also was a trained pianist. Cornell University Class of 1914.
