Scope and content

Correspondence (1930-34) primarily of the manager, Hattie Lutt, concerning booking arrangements and theater operations; box office statements,, tax accounts, bank books, time books, and other financial records (1917-34); scrapbooks of clippings, press releases, and reviews (1888-1934); photographs (mainly pre-1920), many signed, of stage and screen stars; and blueprints of the theater.

Biographical / Historical

The Rochester Lyceum Theatre was owned by Abe E. Wollf and members of his family. Opening in 1888, it presented serious drama, musical comedy, minstrel shows, summer stock productions, and silent films, and was host to such performers as Edwin Booth, Otis Skinner, Sarah Bernhardt, Helen Hayes, and the Barrymores.
