Part of this collection relates to the Paris Furnace Company of Clayville, and includes an inventory (1851) by J.A.D. Cushing of stocks and orders in midwestern states; cash statements (1851-57); estimates on the production costs of scythes and other farm implements; a letter from Cincinnati on the establishment of a sales branch and on Cushing interest therein; orders for Millard interests (1858); a letter from Millard to his wife (1861) describing an interview with Secretary of War Cameron, Roscoe Conkling, and John Covode, Washington (1863), about the presentation of a Millard sword to Lieutenant Smith and the subsequent celebration; accounts (1867-71) of Millard with the company; a contract (1869) for the manufacture of metallic roofing; and a letter from P.E. Dye, Washington (1874), regarding Millard's claims for the payment of sabers sold to the government.

Also included are papers relating to the Equalization of State Taxation and other problems for the Town of Paris (1845-47); a petition to the legislature by citizens of Clayville (1855) on the need of an act against usury; a letter from Cincinnati (1831) relating to the steam machinery business there and mechanics' wages; a long electioneering letter by Millard for Conkling (1862), and a post-election letter from T.R. Walker, Utica, on the Utica clique which defeated Conkling; "Tippicanoe Text-Book," "Harrison Almanac," and other political pamphlets. Also, notebook and account books of Julia A. Hoyt (ca. 1819).
