Scope and content

Papers concerning the John McGraw Company which in 1878 became Thomas McGraw and Company, Rough and Dressed Lumber, Shingles, Lath and Salt, Portsmouth, Michigan. Includes financial, legal, and other papers relating to the lumber industry, including timber inspection and cutting reports, and two letter books of Charles Curtiss, McGraw's partner. Also, two series of letters to Cornelia Curtiss from Mrs. D.W. Fiske (Jennie McGraw Fiske) and Mrs. Caroline Corson, containing detailed descriptions of European travels and references to persons in Ithaca, New York.
