Scope and content

Includes one letter to Griffith's brother, William M., describing his job, high prices in Racine, Wisconsin, and the recent Wisconsin gubernatorial election; also, two letters written from the Headquarters of the 22nd Regiment of Wisconsin volunteers near Nashville, Tennessee including comments by Captain Griffith on army life, battle experiences, Union deserters, Southerners' efforts to reclaim "contraband" slaves from the Union ranks, and other topics; and transcripts of similar letters written from Danville, Kentucky and Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
