Scope and content

Papers of Harlan P. Banks consist of biographical material and correspondence relating to appointments and honors; material relating to the International Congress of Plant Sciences and the Cornell Summer Institute of Botany; material written or compiled by Banks on the history of the Botany Department and professors including Albert LeRoy Andrews, Liberty Hyde Bailey, Daniel Grover Clark, Robert T. Clausen, Arthur Johnson Eames, Lowell Fitz Randolph, Lewis Knudson, Walter C. Muenscher, Loren C. Petry, and Lester W. Sharp (including a parody of a scientific article); photographs; and syllabi from a History of Botany seminar given by members of the Department from 1916 to 1947.
