Scope and content
Papers consist of personal and business correspondence; legal documents concerning properties and lawsuit, including records from the years 1857-1859 when Doolittle was a justice of the peace; correspondence and documents concerning Nebraska Territory land agreements with the Omahas (Indians); bills and receipts for lumber (some shipped by canal), horses, and various merchandise; a few insurance policies; some items concerning Granger town and school business; and materials relating to Allegany, Livingston, and Washington Counties. Correspondents include Alvan and Sarah Felch Doolittle, and their children: Frank and wife Linda, Henry, Thusa and husband D. E. McWayne (doctor), Mary, Ora (Oragon), and Lucian A. and wife Anna.
