Gordon Stephenson was the first Chief Planning Officer (1947) of the Ministry of Town and Country Planning, London; Lever Professor of Civic Design and Editor of the Town Planning Review, University of Liverpool, 1948-53; Consultant to the Government of Western Australia, the City of Perth and the University of Western Australia, 1953-55; Professor of Town and Regional Planning, University of Toronto, 1955-60; Professor of Architecture, and for seven years consultant architect, University of Western Australia, 1960-72; and since 1948 has been in private practice as a planning consultant and architect.
