The University Tutoring School was a private school in Ithaca, New York run by Harold H. Schaff.

Biographical / Historical

Born in 1900, Harold H. Schaff served in the Air Force in World War I, then graduated from Yale in 1921 and earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1930. He taught history at the University of Wisconsin, Syracuse University, and later Cornell. He was also the head of the University Tutoring School until he was appointed secretary to New York State Lieutenant Governor Thomas W. Wallace. While still in Ithaca he also organized the Share a Smoke Club, a charity that provided American cigarettes to British troops in World War II. He also served as executive secretary of the New York State War Council.
