Biographical / Historical

Architect. McHugh was involved in land use planning and urban design and renewal. He received his M.B. in Architecture from Cornell in 1927 and graduated from the Harvard University Graduate School of City Planning in 1932. He worked for the Department of City Planning, New York City, and was City Planning Director from 1941 to 1946, at which time he went into private practice. He provided consulting services to governmental and private agencies, civic organizations, and property owners in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Cornell University Class of 1925, M.B. Arch. 1927. Member, International Fraternity of Lambda Alpha, New York Chapter.
