Scope and content

Clippings, programs, photographs, and memorabilia of Carolyn Slater Treman Cooley, her second husband Charles R. Cooley, her mother Caroline Adsitt Slater, her first husband Robert E. Treman, and other family members. Includes letters (three from George Lincoln Burr to Caroline Adsitt Slater); postcards; items from the American Battle Monuments Commission (World War II); passports of Charles R. Cooley; Cornell University class reunion items; file on Brud Holland; dog pedigree charts and prize records; three landscape sketches; and miscellaneous Cornell University, Robert E. Treman, Slater, and Cooley materials. Also photographs of Ithaca and Cornell campus scenes, including Beebe Lake, 1932; of a trip to World War I battlefields, 1924, and other World War I photographs; and "Speak-o-phone" recordings of the Cornell University War Memorial Dedication. Correspondence and documents relating to the purchase of a house in France and other legal matters, 1967-1974. Clippings of Cornell items mentioning Carolyn Slater, class of 1923 material, correspondence and letter from Robert Kane about Robert Treman's death. Also a photo of the women of the Cornell Class of 1923 at their five year reunion. The picture includes Carolyn Slater (Coffin) Treman, Barbara McClintock, and the Class of '23 stuffed cow mascot on wheels.

Biographical / Historical

Charles Ransom Cooley (1895-1966) graduated from Cornell University in 1922, and was a landscape architect. He married Carolyn Slater, Cornell University Class of 1923.
