The Aric Lasher papers (1981-2016) contains architectural drawings, concept sketches, blueprints, and other works of architect Aric Lasher. The collection contains production work for the sets of feature films and building concepts and proposals for several universities and municipalities. The collection also contains a copy of Lasher's undergraduate thesis.

Biographical / Historical

Aric J. Lasher was born on August 29, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. He earned a Bachelors of Architecture from Cornell University in 1984, followed by a Masters of Fine Arts in Film from the University of Southern California in 1995. Lasher practiced architecture in Lucerne, Switzerland, from 1985 to 1986, and in Chicago from 1986 to 1993. In Los Angeles, he worked as a lead set designer for multiple Hollywood feature films from 1995 to 2005, including Pearl Harbor (2001), Practical Magic (1998), and Stuart Little (1999). He returned to Chicago and worked at Hammond Beeby Rupert Aigne (HBRA) from 2005 to 2010 before succeeding Thomas H. Beeby as President and Director of Design in 2011 through 2022. In 2016, he became a fellow of the America Institute of Architects (FAIA). He died on June 6, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.
