Speed to Ezra Cornell from Detroit: "Wilson is fighting the Pirates in good stile, but I much doubt his ability, or any one else, to get the Stock taken for us from Chicago to St. Louis. O'Reilly has a tribe of agents travelling all over the West, setting up meetings and talking to all who will listen to them in favor of their piratical schemes."
